The first of two RAG HOG groups left for Beatty on FLEX Friday.
Friday evening...they met at Rhyolite...a coupld of miles
west of Beatty for our traditional
"wine and cheese evening...to watch the sun go down".
Our second group left Saturday AM.
Weather was a bit cool and iffy!
Bundled up and comfy...we're enjoying the scenery and the ride!
Gassing up at Panamint Springs...
Wade got new motor moiunts...and was checking them out...
Stove Pipe Wells: No premium gas.
The western entrance to Death Valley....
(With her heavy gloves on...Judy managed
to reset her camera on gray-scale...with
yellow-green being the only color recorded.)
Death Valley Sand Dunes....
Heading north toward Scotty's Castle...
we ride thru fine alkali dust....
Scotty Castle comes into view....
The Saturday group riding from Ridgecrest was to meet up with the
Friday group riding from Beatty. Where are they?
Katherine, Scott, Anita and Rex...from the Friday group...
finally showed up at Scotty's Castle with their story (see below).
Ah...Judy's color is back!

Here's a summary of what happened to the Friday group...
attempting to reach Scotty's Castle:

The Friday group was on HWY95 north of Beatty.
At the intersection with HWY267 to Scotty's Castle...
Bland noticed that he'd lost electrical power -- no turn signals.
So he turned wide and rode into the huge empty asphalt pad on the
northwest corner of the intersection. The other riders thought
Bland had merely missed the turn. They made the turn...
and slowed down to see what Bland was signaling.
In the process...at approx. 3 MPH...Chris stopped
and Randy didn't! Both bikes went down. Randy's Debbie9
unfortunately broke her ankle. Chris's wife Kim was riding
with Bland...so missed the center of the excitement!

Nevada Highway Patrol.... sigh
An ambulance took Debbie9 to Tonapah (Billee rode with her).
Bland called for a tow for his and Chris's bikes to be taken
back to the Stagecoach in Beatty.
Bland rode Billee's bike home in Ridgecrest...picked up
his diesel and trailer...drove back to the Stagecoach to pick up
his and Chris's bikes to trailer home. Randy's bike was ridable...
so he rode home and took Billee and Bland's Tahoe back to
Tonapah to retrieve Debbie9 and Billee. sigh

Of course...Saturday evening...after a bit of gambling, etc.
some gathered in a room for some friendly conversation.
Evidently...the conversation turned to tattoos!...
Sunday morning...gassing up...before breakfast...
As luck would have it...
Cheryl got a Royal Flush worth $1200+ playing video poker
Saturday evening at the bar! Then Sunday morning...Dwight
sat at the very same spot...and also got a Royal Flush...but
playing only one quarter got $72! Pretty darn impressive!
Yes...Rhyolite!
A picture moment!
Yes...that's rain spots!
